Unfortunate Timing 2

The sale of my Mum's flat has been ongoing since September (with a short break as the buyer lost their buyer).

Wendy and I are joint Powers of Attorney but as I'm local and was involved in the original purchase, I'm the one dealing with the paperwork.

At the beginning of December I wrote to both our solicitor and estate agent advising them we would be away 16 Jan-9 Feb - a courtesy I thought, as naively I'd assumed we'd be at contract signing stage by now.
I heard nothing from either of them until

- yesterday the estate agent rang asking if we'd been sent any queries by our solicitor.  "No"

- 16:45 today an email from our solicitor with a string of questions.  I rang her immediately and advised her email would not be dealt with until our return and that I thought her timing was particularly poor as she admitted having received the questions from the buyer's solicitor before Christmas.

So, did it come up on their diary systems I was away and prompt them both into action or was it again just unfortunate timing.

And now the corkscrew has broken !!!!!!!!
